First, I would like to say the quote Ms. Nelson put at the top of blog 4 is beautiful. I have a passion for alot of things like music, art, dance, acting, but the one that drives me everyday is nursing. The reason I have worked so hard in school and college is so that I can reach my goal. I have a passion for helping people and making sure everyone is okay and is able to go through life with physical, mental, or spirtual pain. I incorperate helping people in my everyday life. That is one of the reasons nursing is a really good major for me. I really want to work at a hospital so I can be able to help more people and eventually save lives. Just doing that would make me feel good inside. My passion helps everyone. Sooner or later everyone will need a nurse or a doctor. When a person is born they need a medical staff, so my passion is always needed and there is a very high demand for it. I know for sure what I am passionate about will eventually show thriugh my years of schooling. I am going through this stage of where they are training me and teaching me how to use my critical thinking skills and develop a sense of what is best for a patient. My future is looking very bright if I keep up the good work and stay focused on my values, goals, and passion. There are many people interested in my passion and there are many positions avalible for that type of work but only few will make it. I have been in many hospitals and I have not been afraid to network and use my communication skills to get me where I need to go. I do feel like this is a difficult task to achieve but I know it is not impossible for me to achieve it. There has been many people to accomplish this goal before me and there will be many after me. People that has followed their life’s passion is happy and content with their lives because they are doing what they are passionate about and they are also really good at it because that is where their heart is at. It has inspired me to keep on working hard and soon it will pay off.

The Thing I Value The Most

I value alot of things as in my life, my education, my family, and my relationships. If I have respect for myself and value myself as a good person I will be able to make it far wheather anybody believes in me or not. That will allow education to fall in place and if I decide to do something with my life I will reap the rewards of good success. Then that where my family comes in as far as being a support system and allowing me to have freedom but keep me in line at the same time. And when all that is done and over then I will focus on a relationship that may or may not work out. I value my education the most. I feel like I have worked so hard twelve years of my life to be successful in whatever I may want to do so why stop now. My major is nursing and if I want to make it through the program with honors I must value my education and school work. If I didn’t I would have never wasted time even applying for a college. I believe that the BSA organization can help me develop and maintain my current goals in life right now. I chose that organization because I can meet many other students that are just determined as I am that may be a friend I can rise to the top with. Whether I join that organization…I do not know but I do know I will make it with or without my inner circle. My values for education is so strong that I refuse to let anyone get in the way of my goals. It has been points in my life where friends and boyfriends has tried to hinder me or slow me down on the process of success and at the moment when I realized that I let them go out of my life instantly. In the last six months my focus has been college. I have accomplished earning good grades and I must say my mother helped me accomplish them. If it wasn’t for my mother making sure I do what is important first then letting me enjoy life I think I would be in a bad situation right now. By the end of my freshman year in college I want to go into my sophmore year smarter and a better person. I am not perfect and I make mistakes but when it is time for me to enter the nursing program I want to be beyond ready. I want to be prepared and focused. Values can go along way from home, and values can change over the years , but values will always be there to shape your life.

It’s About That Time We Had That Talk

Technology is a wonderful invention to me. There are so many ways people can communicate and network in this century. Online networking sites are very popular and there are so many to chose from. I have an account on Myspace and Facebook and everytime I log on there’s one of my friends opinions or feelings posted on thier wall. Personally I believe people share personal information online to let a certain person know how they feel without directly telling them. The problem is the blogging is so flawless because once you post a comment, feeling, or personal information on your page almost anyone can see exactly what you said. I do not think it is safe at all but I do think it is entertaining. When people blog it could be for many reasons. They may want to make an annoucement, inform, educate, express their feelings, or just plain gossip and readers enjoy every last bit of it. These blogging sites are becoming more and more popular. There numbers are growing as we speak because of the human curiosity of the site. Every website including Myspace and the other begin with an inviting comment to make you want to join and start blogging right away. Once you sign up you may be online for hours and even days trying to make your page interesting enough to gain friends. Then once you have everything set up you start to browse the rest of the site and what do you find. You find your friend pages flashing and glowing so you spend another two hours sending friend requests and upgrading your page. As you continue to search the site you find surveys everyone has taken so you take several quizzes yourself. These quizzes ask you personal questions that only you should kept to yourself, but because the site is so popular and interesting you answer the questions and post them. Once again everyone knows and sees things that you might regret later in life. There is also a positive side of online communicating. There is something called networking. Many people do it and they use the computer to keep in touch with long- distance relatives, friends, and even companions. The drawbacks of these sites are that once you start typing you get addicted and that’s all you basically think about. Its like once you get hooked you may need blogging rehab or something similar. I perfer to communicate with my friends face to face because I like to see people first reactions to certain situations and conversations. But if it is a person I really do not perfer to talk to as much I would just text them. Many people that I know perfer to text rather than talk on the phone because they do not know how to hold a conversation. They also perfer texting over talking face to face because if you ask them a serious or important question they will have time to reply and you would not really know their original or truthful answer. Communcication is powerful, just be careful how you use it.

Who’s The Boss??

Control is a very powerful word. Control is having power over something or someone. For example: The Color Purple. Many of the characters controlled their spouses, even to the point of abuse. Control is needed in everyday life. Having laws to set limits and boundaries are a form of control. A parent should have control over their child to try to keep them from doing things they may regret later. Everyone posses the power of control some people just have more control. Like a teacher controlling a class room over a mayor controlling a city. When a situation occurs whether it is good or bad you can control your emotions. People with lack of control do not go very far in life. We believe things are in control when everything goes the way we plan it. From the etymology of control that is all the management control we can ever have. The word control is not very far of the opposite of chaos but it holds a root meaning of watching closely for signs of chaos. The idea is that things will always go off the road, but if we are watching closely we can catch these problems early and make the right decisions before things go totally wrong. The English language got the word control from the French language back before 1475 when it first was discovered in the written record. As we know the French language came out of the Latin language, and in the Latin language the word contrarotulare came about as a mixture of two earlier Latin words: contra meaning “against” and rotulus meaning “roll.” While the literal meaning of this Latin word is “against the roll” the figurative meaning is “duplicate register” because the way that people have always managed and controlled things is by keeping lists and checking against those lists. Contra rotulus meant that the manager kept a duplicate set of records (the roll) in his possession so that he could check them against the active accounts and make sure everything still added up. In conclusion, I am in control of my life. I decide what I am going to do and not going to do. My control level has changed a lot and that has made me a little more mature. It was a point where if things did not go my way it was the highway. Now if it does not go my way it is still the highway, but now I control how I react and feel about certain things whether I like it or not. I am in control over my life.
